(Pronounced ’rrr – khaa; stop with rolled r, then hard ch with long a; singular Yrrch)
The orcs. To summarize their story: tribes and conflict. Any time that there is substantial overlap in the ranges of a tribe of orcs and any other race is short-lived. One or the other is pushed out or exterminated. For that matter, there is rarely overlap let alone cooperation between different tribes. The shortest lived of any of the Kindred, they seem determined to pack as much misery and woe (for others) into their time on Gaea.
The tribes show a wide variation in physical form and attributes. Some tribes create great tunnel complexes underground (which causes conflict with dwarves); some establish above ground fortifications of surprising sophistication, if not much in the way of civilized amenities. Orcs do not have much in the way of agrarian interests, leaving such things to their serfs or slaves.
There are many, conflicting, stories about the origins of the orcs, most of which seem not very complimentary. All agree, though, that it was Mal who had the largest role in shaping their initial history.
