ME12 / S51 Fireday 3rd Selenal, 88 AD (13/2/4), a busy day in Chantee
Though XP were earned, nobody cleared a quarter level.
The night before, Corm had an interaction with a down and out former Storm Rider, Greyhorse, a friend of his father Viktor (son of Corm). He spoke also of Corm’s mother, Clemence, and made some allusion to her death, that there was more than just her succumbing to the ravages of the White Death. He spoke of a hostile trading house, the Deepdrafts. Greyhorse was also the possessor of a ring that rightfully belonged to Corm. A simple band (electrum?) with a two polished stones (agate?).and an inscription within, “The Heart of Viktor”. Greyhorse gets quite maudlin, and eventually passes out. Corm arranges for some accommodation for him, and buys drinks for all the patrons in the pub who had been nice to Greyhorse..
Early the next day…
Ackpub, though still stinky, had a restoration applied to him, lifting one of his two negative levels. (The party purchased some Ru(h)m from the clerics of Nut).
Taena asked for and received an arm wrapping that included a silver disk displaying a Lyre, as a holy symbol of Nut. The two clerics were apparently appreciative of Taena’s performances the night before, as well as one done in the temple.
An attempt at divination was tried by Flint, particularly to determine whether / where Merit, Khonkritt, and associated forces might be following. The answer was, typically, a bit imprecise: There was indeed pursuit, though their arrival wasn’t immanent. The question was whether there was sufficient time to stay in Chantee and perhaps leave a good impression with the locals (and maybe alert them to some of the cosmic difficulties that might be hanging over Gaea and urXron?).
Bignose stayed in town to get his new armor fitted to him, as did Zan, who hung out by the shuttered Bard’s guild building.
The remainder went off to visit the horse breeder Nester, a gnome who really knows his horse flesh. Though a bit pricy they are able to get some magnificent animals, particularly in terms of their resilience (extra HP). A special mount, Orion, was purchased for Corm, battle trained, if not actually battle tested. Ackpub’s designated horse seems to be a bit of a mouth breather, with congested sinuses, which may explain why it was able to stand Ackpub’s ambience. They take their new noble steeds back to Chantee.
As the sun sets, events are astir…
